I believe that one of the easiest traps that Christians fall into is PRIDE… Well just this past Sunday, I preached in KM(Korean Service) and received so many comments as to how powerful the sermon was and how great preacher PT is… (which seldom I receive in EM^^)
So here we go that I was in such prideful mood for the past few days until I read a section of the Purpose Driven yesterday which it says, “Unfortunately, many leaders today start off as servants but end up as celebrities. They become addicted to attention, unaware that always being in the spotlight blinds you.” OMG… I felt that it was talking straight into my heart that how easily I forget that I am merely a servant and that I have nothing to be boastful about…
It is truly our one of the weaknesses that we love to receive an attention or recognition from people esp. when we are serving or doing something good. But believe it or not, our ultimate applause comes from the One not people… Let me give you an example: Couple of weeks ago, I attended my daughter’s, Susan, orchestra performance and realized that Susan was the concert master, playing solo violin that night. After the performance, all the audience gave her applause but then her eyes were fixed upon only one person that is her music coach who gave her an ultimate nodding of his head, saying yes it was well done. For her, what really counted the most was not people’s applause, although it is nice, but from her coach who knows her the best…
So it is with us that as a servant of God, we don’t serve to receive applause of people but for an ultimate applause from the One who knows our hearts the most… Well.. It is time for me be to more humbled…^^
Alright folks! Hope your week is going great!
Will certainly look forward to see you all on this weekend!
Have the Spirit filled the rest of the week!
Blessings,
PT
