In this week, I had an interesting conversation with my buddy pastor who shared his struggles of trying to make his church fellowship to be better… Oh well… even though the church that I pastor, namely NCMC EM has a definite room to grow for fellowship, I shared my recent experience of visiting an AA group that meets at our church (our American church gave them a permission) during the week.
It was my first time seeing AA group with my naked eyes and I was totally blown away as to how deep these people have genuine fellowship, just like what we see in the Early Church Era. I mean… I saw different people (”high” and “low”) get together and truly share their struggles and victories… The entire gathering was marked by compassionate listening, warm and caring responses, and many heart filled hugs… It was an awesome experience of seeing honesty among people…
I believe…honesty is what we need the most when it comes to our fellowship as brothers and sisters in Christ… doing away with masks that we wear, the masks of pretending… the masks of showing off… the masks of superficiality… Truly, what it requires is radical honesty for us to grow into fellowship that the Bible reminds us to have as brothers and sisters who experienced ultimate honesty of Jesus Christ when He was completely exposed & naked on the Cross…After all, I think we could do a better job than AA group!^^
