Have you had a tension with someone recently? I mean with someone like your friend, co-worker, boss, or even your own family member… I am sure you had… It seems almost inevitable to me that we do experience relational tensions in our lives…
Well, the reason I am bringing an isuse of tension is because I went thru. one early this week with our landlord, the Western Hills Church. This is what happened. As I have come into my church office on this Monday morning, I was approached by Pastor Kwon, our KM pastor, asking me give an apology to Western Hills Church since we as NCMC left “mess” after our past Sunday services.
Being a mature person I am^^, without questioning it, I did it. I’ve sent an e-mail of apology to the senior pastor of Western Hills Church. But few hours later, he responded back. But the e-mail was a bit surprise with telling how NCMC is unrespectable & irresponsible when it comes cleaning up and leaving the church campus as it should be after the services. I mean it was bit of harsh words with a length of entire page that really offended my heart. I felt a moment of definite tension…
But then here is what I did in terms of resolving the tension on my part at least. First of all, instead of blaming the other party, I sat down and thought about it, realizing that it is our faults as NCMC that we didn’t follow the guideline of keeping up with the church campus cleaning procedures, making sure that it is ready to go for the next day. Second of all, I personally reminded myself that we as NCMC will need to improve the way we use the building and to be better stewards of it and at the same time, be thankful to Western Hills Church for allowing us to rent this beautiful facilities for the past years of however long we have been around.
You see… it really helped me to cool down my heart by focusing on the good side of the other party instead of blaming it or complaining and trying to find a way to improve & appreciate the relationship. So… if you happen to have tension with someone in your life, you could certainly try as to what I’ve just shared. It should erase good portion of tension that you might have with an individual or entity that you come across in your life.
